His musical journey mirrors the journey of his life – from a small district in rural Jamaica playing for his church as a teenager to performing stages in the United Kingdom, United States, various Caribbean Islands and here in Canada.
Arthur’s first exposure to music started with playing percussion instruments. Noting his natural inclination to play by ear, a band leader one of the island’s best bands trained him in playing drums. Arthur is proficient in musical instruments such as bass and electric guitar, keyboard, drums, and violin. What is special about his musical talents and abilities is that he taught himself to play these instruments, and then he went for formal training. He is now under the tutelage of world renowned violist, Jacob Lakirovich, Head of the Violin Department at the New Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Arthur also plays with the Bluffs Cathedral Orchestra, one of Toronto’s top orchestras. Arthur is the recipient of multiple awards from the New Conservatory of Music recognizing his increasing musical abilities on the violin.
His musical genre is diverse ranging from jazz to reggae, rhythm and blues to classical, and ska to latin music. Arthur, like Orsino in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, believes that music is indeed the food of love and his greatest desire is to use his musical talents to bring joy and pleasure to those who hear him play.
